About Blind Brook Mock Trial
Blind Brook Mock Trial is the mock trial club of Blind Brook High School. We participate in the New York State Bar Association's annual Mock Trial tournament. The New York State Bar develops a case which is distributed to mock trial participants across New York state. We then compete against other schools in order to advance. The teams is divided into two sides, prosecution/plaintiff and defense. Each team is in charge of writing a direct and cross examination for each of the witnesses (also portrayed by mock trial participants) as well as an opening an closing statement. These are then used in the competitions. The teams witnesses are also asked cross examination questions by the apposing council which forces them to think on their feet. The mock trial competitions are very competitive and also a lot of fun! Blind Brook has done outstandingly well in the past, competing at the state level numerous times.
